Born in Corvallis, Oregon, Jason Mater’s interest in music started at a young age. As a kid, he learned to play guitar and always wanted to learn more about crafting and creating songs. After high school, he attended Oregon State University where he graduated with a degree in Atmospheric Science and a minor in music. Upon graduating, he moved to Phoenix, Arizona where he studied at the Conservatory of Recording Arts and earned his Master’s degree in Audio Engineering.
Immediately following graduation, he relocated to Los Angeles where he started an internship for Slogan Music, a commercial production house. Shortly thereafter, he was offered an assistant engineering position at Paramount Recording Studios where he worked with several artists including Dr. Dre, Eminem, Goo Goo Dolls, Snoop Dogg and more. He spent two years at Paramount before moving to Capitol to work with renowned artists such as Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder and Jon Brion which enabled him to move into song production.
Jason made the transition from strictly engineering jobs when he was recruited by Ole/Jingle Punks to follow his true passion, producing. It was during his time there that he learned more about song production for TV and Film along with producing for developing acts on the company’s roster.
Since that time, Jason has been working a lot on song production for TV & Film. His songs have been heard in commercials, TV shows and films including “One Tree Hill”, “Private Lives of Nashville Wives”, the theme song for “Page Six TV”, the official trailer for the new “Spider Man: Homecoming” movie and much more.
In Jason’s latest chapter, he has found a home with Disney Music Group where he has been working with Artists and song placement within the Disney universe. Some of his more recent sync placements include “Live Your Story” for Disney’s Dream Big Princess Campaign, High School Musical 4, Honk Kong Disney Land Park, Star Wars Cantina, Disney’s Villains Campaign, Nickelodeon’s “Superfluff Transformer.” Some of the recent artists he has worked with include Maddie Poppe, In Real Life, Bea Miller, and most recently he scored a number 1 on the iTunes Country chart with Sam Grow.
